Redding: 'Wrong direction' for Clarke schools
Being a teacher always has been challenging; the profession has been plagued by the winds of politics and economic insecurity. I was disappointed to read that, once again, budget cuts are threatening to undo what has taken the Clarke County School District years to achieve - reduced class size and adequate instructional support in the lower grades (Story, "Plan cuts school jobs, not administrators," Saturday).

Psychologist: Man delusional, can't help prep for trial
A man accused of trying to murder an Athens-Clarke police officer is unfit to stand trial, a psychologist testified Monday in Clarke County Superior Court, because he believes authorities are out to kill him and can't assist in his own defense.
